Jane Getter


Jane Getter is "the fieriest fretboarding female ever to strap on a Stratocaster," according to Guitar Player Magazine.

She has played with many jazz and rock greats while garnering increasing recognition as a bandleader and gifted writer and instrumentalist. Early in her career she toured with legendary jazz/blues organist Jack McDuff, which provided invaluable training ground. Her composing talents received attention when she won the ASCAP Gershwin Award for Music for Theater or Dance in the mid 90's.
At this time she also recorded and toured with Michal Urbaniak's band 'Urbanator', (featuring Kenny Garrett, Tom Browne and Lenny White) Getter then teamed up with writing partner Lenny White (the legendary drummer from Return To Forever), and co-wrote Urbanator's smooth jazz hit "Hopscotch”, along with other compositions which were recorded on White's Present Tense and Acoustic Masters CDs.
She then received widespread exposure playing in the Saturday Night Live Band.

Her debut CD on Lipstick Records, titled Jane received worldwide critical acclaim.
Jane’s 2nd CD, titled See Jane Run, was released in 2006 on Alternity Records. It was a powerful jazz/rock statement. Secret Code, a special guitar duet project with guitarist Bruce Arnold, was released in 2009 on Muse Eek. In 2012, Alternity records released three featuring Adam Holzman, keyboardist with Steven Wilson and former musical director and keyboardist for MIlesDavis, bassist James Genus of the Saturday Night Live band and drummer Anton Fig of the David Letterman Orchestra. In 2013, three was submitted for a Grammy Nomination.

Jane’s latest album ON was released October of 2015 on Madfish Music, with her exciting new band The Jane Getter Premontion. It features Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson), Bryan Beller (Joe Satriiani, Aristocrats) , Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, Alan Holdsworth) and special guests Corey Glover (Living Colour), Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Theo Travis (Steven Wilson, Robert Fripp). It continues to receive rave reviews and worlldwide critical acclaim. ON has also appeared on many “best of” lists, including All About Jazz’s “Best of 2015” and the Village Voice’s “Ten most interesting Metal albums of 2015”.

Jane has appeared in Guitar Player Magazine regularly, with feature interviews in the February 2013 and January 2016 issues. She has also written instructional articles for Guitar Player’s "Sessions" section.

Other great artists Jane has recorded or performed with include Ursala Dudziak, The Roots The Jam, Jaimoe (Allman Brothers Band drummer), Kenny Garrett, legendary Headhunters drummer Mike Clark, Regina Carter, Michal Urbaniak and many more. Her band has played and toured internationally in festivals and venues worldwide, including Warsaw’s Guitar City, Austria’s Outreach Festival, San Francisco Jazz Festival, NYC’s BB Kings, The Blue Note, The Iridium India’s B Flat Bar and many more. Jane Getter Premontion toured the US in 2015 and will tour Europe and the UK in 2016.
